Valle Pome is an ancient countryside estate nestled among the rolling hills of the Asti region.
The property consists of several buildings: a main villa, stables, a barn, and a caretaker’s house.

The overarching project envisions transforming the estate into a private residence in the main villa and a widespread agriturismo within the other structures.
The Gate House, originally a modest two-story caretaker’s dwelling, has been entirely
reimagined to meet contemporary needs while preserving the historical character of the building.

The ground floor layout centers on a compact yet well-organized living space, featuring
a kitchen redesigned to maximize available space. The kitchen is positioned along one
longitudinal side of the room, aligned between two large marble-framed openings that connect the staircase on one side and the storage area on the other.
To enhance natural lighting, a new porthole window was added, creating a brighter, more inviting atmosphere that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape.
The original fireplace, a defining feature of the space, was retained and updated with a
contemporary design that respects its rustic charm while offering a fresh interpretation.

On the upper floor, the reorganization introduced a bedroom with an en suite shower and a separate bathroom. The bathroom was divided into two zones: a functional area and a shower zone enriched by a newly added porthole window that provides views of the garden and the estate grounds.
The renovation embraced the use of natural materials that blend seamlessly with the rural setting. Wood, glazed terracotta, stone, and lime plaster for the walls were chosen to create a textured, authentic feel.

The finishing approach prioritized craftsmanship, steering away from industrial precision to highlight the artisanal construction process and foster a sense of connection with the surrounding environment.
The color palette echoes the hues of the local landscape, balancing warm, welcoming tones with deeper, immersive shades. Meanwhile, the external facade was repainted in its original, now faded color, restoring the authentic character of the Gate House and the stables-and-barn complex.

The overall result is a space that merges modern functionality with a deep respect for
tradition, offering welcoming environments that seamlessly integrate into the pastoral beauty of the Asti hills.
This renovation celebrates the essence of the Piedmontese countryside while honoring the historical identity of the estate.
