Pre-finished by hand, this remarkable selection of Ash has a playful bright Scandinavian touch. The wood is bleach treated with lye against yellowing. The surface is treated with hardwax-oil and can be soaped and reoiled time after time to feed and protect the surface patina. This finish works best in randomly blended wider and longer boards for floors or walls.

Continental Ash with Hardwax-Oil
The product uses European Ash (Fraxinus Exelcior) mainly over 80 years old and grown in responsibly managed central continental European forests.
The finish can be cleaned regularly using Ebony and Co's Natural Whitewash Oil Soap, which feeds and strengthens the surface over time and makes the patina richer and deeper.
Professional maintenance with the Maintenance Whitewash Oil will make this finish richer and protect it over time. Spot repairs are possible with a touch-up kit.

For optimal stability, Ebony and Co timber dries for a minimum of four seasons. Once it reaches the mill, it passes through multiple stages of evaluation where each board is closely examined. By fusing a classic approach to milling with advanced technology, Ebony and Co can precision mill to exacting standards while increasing energy efficiency and minimizing waste.

Akb Architects has created a multi-generational family cottage clad in rough-sawn cedar boards and cedar shakes to merge with the northern Ontario terrain of windswept trees and Pre-Cambrian bedrock. The 7,500-square-foot residence comprises three interconnected volumes that form an interior of cozy spaces and open rooms with spectacular views of a freshwater lake. The simple, volumetric shapes are distinctly contemporary while also embedded with vernacular features that give the house its cabin-in-the-woods appeal, including gabled rooflines with pronounced chimney stacks and an abundance of naturally aged wood.
The design brief for this two-story house centered around maximizing use and light without conceding to an addition. Reflect Architecture approached the project with two main focal points: how to create open, long views through the architecture while maintaining a sense of intimacy that is inherent to any modest home. As opposed to simply knocking down walls and opening up the space, the team created independent and unique areas on the ground floor that are connected by a single, full-length view corridor that links the front and back doors. This corridor also visually unites the home’s two staircases, which were unstacked in order to provide generous height above each stair and allow light to move around the centre of the house.
