The Aged Brass switch finish is carefully designed to provide a beautifully antiqued appearance right from the start. It is left unlacquered, allowing it to naturally develop a rich patina over time, adding to its character and depth. If anyone prefers a shinier look, it is possible to lightly polish the surface to restore some luster without losing its natural beauty. The true charm of this finish lies in its warm, mellow tone, giving the impression that it has been part of interior design for years.

The toggles, dimmer knobs, and push buttons are polished but also unlacquered, creating a subtle contrast that complements the muted tones of the aged plates. To achieve the best aesthetic results, ensure that junction boxes are recessed at least 1/8 inches below the finished wall surface; for more details, refer to our Junction Box Assembly Diagram technical sheet.

A British-based company with a reputation for high-quality design amongst architects and designers
Founded 25 years ago, Forbes & Lomax has consistently approached the electrical accessory market with an emphasis on aesthetics. In 1988, when elegant glass, nickel, and brass switches became unavailable, the modern alternatives were unattractive and unsuitable for the high-end projects of interior designers. To address this, Forbes & Lomax introduced The Invisible Lightswitch®, featuring a transparent acrylic plate that showcases the wallpaper or paint beneath, complemented by a stylish metal toggle switch. This innovation combined attractive design with modern technology. Over the years Forbes & Lomax have added to the range, producing high-quality switches, sockets, and dimmers in a variety of finishes to suit the demands of both traditional and contemporary architects and interior designers.

Three Chimney House
Three Chimney House, designed by TW Ryan Architecture, is situated at the edge of the woods and oriented north-south, featuring distinct wings that provide stunning views from every room. The architects pursued a pure, primitive form, emphasizing chimneys, walls, and roofs, with principles of timelessness, durability, and a connection to local building traditions. Materials were chosen for their historical significance, longevity, and ability to develop a patina, aligning the house more with nearby colonial architecture than modern designs.
The Aged Brass switch finish was selected for its antiqued appearance, allowing it to develop a rich patina over time, enhancing its character and depth. This finish's warm, mellow tone gives the impression of a long-standing presence in the interior design. The design is inspired by Mies van der Rohe’s early 1920s country house, illustrating how structures can complement nature. Standard-sized bricks, lime-coated before firing, feature rough mortar joints that highlight mass, while the wood walls of the Residential Wing reflect the black cedar post fencing of the property.
