The new Roxxane Leggera CL reading and table luminaire shows how it is done: the luminaire only has to be moved toward a mag- netic charging puck to connect it to the mains. A clearly audible clack signals that a connection has been made. Disconnecting Roxxane Leggera CL from the mains upon completion of the charging process is just as simple. Just give the puck a light tap with the tip of your toes and raise the luminaire slightly.
The cableless Roxxane Leggera CL (CL stands for cableless light) can also be recharged via a USB-C port as standard. When the battery is fully charged, the luminaire reliably provides up to 100 hours of brightness (400 to 600 lumens, 800 lumens in Boost mode) – depending on the dimming level selected. A clearly visible charge level display built into the base of the luminaire constantly provides discreet information on the battery level.
If required, mobile devices such as smartphones or tablet PCs can be charged via a further USB port on the base of the luminaire. This not only gives you flexibility in terms of light when choosing your seat for the evening but also puts new life into your energy-drained smartphone to get you through the evening hours.
THE ARCHETYPE OF THE MOBILE LUMINAIRE
In terms of appearance, the minimalistic Roxxane Leggera CL, designed by Rupert Kopp, is the archetype of the mobile luminaire: at an angle of 15 degrees, the body of the luminaire rises from the base, which contains the battery and the electronics. Solidly attached to the body is the handle, the luminaire's strongest design element. "Even to the most casual of observers, it signals that this is a portable luminaire," explains Dietrich F. Brennenstuhl.
"A mobile luminaire has to be light so that it can be easily carried from the living room onto the terrace, for example," Brennenstuhl adds. That is why the table luminaire version of the Roxxane Leggera CL weighs in at just 1150 grams with the reading luminaire coming in on the scales at 1500 grams.
The manoeuvrable luminaire head is also characteristic of the lightweight Roxxane Leggera CL. Thanks to its triaxial joint, it can be tilted through 270 degrees and has a sensor for gesture control on top. The mobile luminaire will be launched in white, black, grey and bronze shortly after Light + Building 2016.
