Maars developed the String² partition wall with two objectives: maximum modularity and maximum integration capabilities. String² is also an ideal basis for creating a multifunctional partition wall with integrated modules for light, air, sound, multimedia, climate control, cupboards, designer panels, and furniture elements. String² is also suitable for the Maars Magnetics add-ons, consisting of magnetic coat hooks, picture hooks, document holders, nameplates, and many other smart magnetic solutions.

String² sets the standard for the functionality and applicability of partitions. The basis for this is the very solid construction combined with an ingenious modular click system. This combination allows for sustainable, reusable, and aesthetic designs with both horizontal and vertical lines. Designs can be carried out with virtually invisible joints between the panel (0mm joints) or given a subtle accent with a shadow joint of 5mm. High spaces are no problem, with stacking up to 6m heights achievable with the String2 system.
Thanks to the innovative Maars click system, all String² elements are quick and easy to connect. This system also allows flexibility regarding future modifications, infinite finishing options, flexible configurations, sound insulation up to 55 db/56 STC, fire resistance of EI120, and Cradle to Cradle Bronze/Silver certification.

Reference projects
The Edge, by PLP is a ‘smart building’ intended as a catalyst for Deloitte’s transition into the digital age. With the world’s highest rating awarded to an office building by the Building Research Establishment (BRE), the global assessor of sustainable buildings, The Edge combines numerous smart technologies to create an adaptable and intelligent working environment.
The starting point of the design is what the architects term a social condenser - a nucleus for the building in the form of an atrium interspersed with bridges and exposed lift cores, which act as nodes of horizontal and vertical activity. Subtle differentiation in materials and lighting makes the atrium a natural gathering place. At 15 storeys, it is lofty but also calm and flooded with a northern light filtered through the low-e glass of the atrium facade.
Employees no longer have assigned desks but rather hot desks, choosing anywhere in the building depending on the required level of sociability: there are work booths, focus rooms, concentration rooms, sitting desks, standing desks, balcony desks, and workstations in the atrium itself. The Adidas ARENA forms a distinctive landmark on the Adidas World of Sports campus in Herzogenaurach. The ARENA’s architecture is functional and expressive, its sculptural shape emphasizing the passion for sports that Adidas represents. A floor area of 52,000 square meters provides nearly 2,000 employees with a modern and sustainable workspace organized on flexible, organic principles, achieved in part with Maars Living Walls’ String².
On all three floors, work areas alternate with areas for formal and informal meetings and recreational zones. They are organized as variegated clusters around light wells of different sizes optimized to supply ample natural light.
For Rotterdam’s Timmerhuis, OMA conceived a modular building that is subtle and adaptable. Timmberhuis’s innovative structural system generates maximum efficiency and versatility both in construction and program: units can adapt to either office space or residential parameters as desired.
Reinforcing this flexibility of space, interior partitions come from Maars Living Walls and include their String² partition walls. Walls and doors are constructed from round extruded aluminium profiles with various heights at the top and bottom profiles. The systems flow smoothly into the solid walls.
