Thanks to air lux’s patented sealing system, compromises are a thing of the past when it comes to sliding windows. air-lux guarantees 100% impermeability with the same excellent running characteristics and sliding leaf weights of up to 1800 kg. 

100% impermeable, excellent running characteristics

When they are closed, the perimeter ring seal ensures 100 % impermeability against driving rain, wind and noise. The strong contact pressure of the seal (seal active) allows impermeability values to be achieved with sliding windows that could previously only be achieved with side-hung windows. When open (seal inactive), the seal is rolled up and the sliding window can be moved with the minimum of effort. In contrast to systems with brush seals, there need be no trade-offs between impermeability and running characteristics.

Sliding windows up to 25 m² in size

Big is best – and this is also true for air-lux sliding windows. With the help of the air seal, the system is capable of absorbing far greater structural tolerances than conventional sealing systems. This in turn allows for leaf sizes of up to 8 × 3.1 m (width × height) or 3.1 × 6 m (when maximising width or height, respectively) with frameless, floor-to-ceiling installation. At a weight of nearly 2 tonnes, a slider of this kind works much like a glass façade, which can be slid away to the side in virtual silence. 

Automation

As vented seals do not have the same frictional resistances as systems fitted with brush seals, we recommend motorisation from a weight of approx. 600 kg. If you’re unsure as to whether you need a motor, we’d be happy to prepare one and retrofit it as required. Thanks to frame integration, the air-lux integrated drive is entirely invisible with all opening types and avoids the need for installation niches or recesses in the ceiling.

Safety

The highly resistant air-lux basic construction can be enhanced with additional mechanical and electronic components and specific glass in tested designs that can be upgraded to resistance class RC3. All safety measures remain invisible and change neither the profile nor the glass surface. Bullet-proof safety glass and alarm glass can also be used up to an element thickness of 60 mm. Electronic components for monitoring the closing position and locking of the sliding windows make it possible to control and monitor the sliding windows through the building management technology (alarm system, home automation system, etc.) – including with mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.

Impermeability

air-lux’s patented sealing concept helps achieve maximum values in all measures of impermeability, including to driving rain, wind and noise, helping to guarantee a comfortable indoor environment in all weather conditions. As the air seal never shows signs of wear, maximum impermeability is guaranteed even after many years of use.

Operation and function

A button with integrated LED in the window frame controls the sliding windows. Sliding windows can be opened and closed manually or fully automatically, smoothly and quietly – with no effort at all. In exterior areas, entry options such as key switches, codes, fingerprints and badges are all possible. In the event of a power failure, the elements can be operated manually and close automatically. On request, we can also handle the planning, preparation and installation of sun protection systems, slot ventilation and insect protection screens for optimal quality of life. For more privacy, darkening systems can be installed on the interior side. 

Threshold

To eliminate the threshold for barrier-free access, the system can be optionally equipped with a pivoting base valve or trailing threshold carriage. If opting to use the threshold carriage, the area opposite the opening direction must be clear so that the threshold carriage can be parked when the window is closed.

Fall protection

By fitting the sliding window on the outside, an all-glass railing can be integrated directly into the system on the inside so that the fall protection remains invisible from the outside and barely noticeable from the inside.
