A house welcoming the street

This is a private house for a couple and their three children.

Many of the requests were specific, such as "a space where the entrance hall and the outside can be used as one", "a layout that allows communication with children from the kitchen", "a fun way to move between floors", and "a dining-kitchen like a bistro".

Therefore, we created a seamless space from the entrance to the third floor with no partitions, allowing people to peek into the house no matter where they are, and opening up the house to the outside, creating a borderless connection to the city. As a nodal point for the community, we hope to create a place where the boundary between the interior and exterior is blurred, through the restaurant and front yard, and to create a place where the community in the residential area can open up loosely. Neighbors passing in front of the house have started conversations about the building, and they have been able to fit in easily to the community, and communication among family members has increased.

The property is long from north to south with a road on the north side. There is a large opening on the south side facing the atrium, through which light is brought into each room on the third and second floors. With the eaves out, each room is well-lit in the winter, and in the summer, direct sunlight is avoided, ensuring brightness through reflection. It is also an energy-saving house that can be lived with only one air conditioner even in the summer because of the good air circulation and insulation of the whole house.
