20 East End Avenue

Relevance New York as Manufacturers

NEW YORK – (September 29, 2014) –Internationally renowned Robert A.M. Stern Architects and developer Corigin Real Estate Group, along with its partner, Florida East Coast Realty, anticipates bringing to market this fall a boutique 43-residence condominium building located at 20 East End Avenue. The 17-story building, in Manhattan’s prestigious Upper East Side neighborhood, sits at the corner of 80th Street and East End Avenue, and will offer personally crafted residences from Robert A.M. Stern Architects, including a truly unprecedented level of design, planning, detailing and quality. Marketing and sales will be managed by Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group.

"20 East End Avenue will change the way people think about new-classic design. We have evolved from classic roots to exceed today’s modern benchmarks for luxury, without compromising our commitment to the refinement and lifestyle principles of the past," said Edward Baquero, president of Corigin Real Estate Group. "We believe 20 East End Avenue will set the new standard for how to live as a family in the city today, and we are grateful to be able to do it within this magical enclave of the Upper East Side called East End Avenue," added Baquero.

20 East End Avenue has been designed to deliver a very bespoke living experience, including the generously scaled and elegantly proportioned residential layouts and interiors, the unparalleled finishes and the unique amenity spaces, which were designed to be a proper extension of one’s home.

"Our design for 20 East End Avenue responds in its materials and its architectural detailing to the 1920s residential apartment houses I admire, many of which can be found in the immediate neighborhood," said architect Robert A.M. Stern, founder and senior partner of Robert A.M. Stern Architects. "20 East End Avenue will have a strong relationship to the street, with a double-height motor court drive and townhouse entries on East 80th Street and another entrance on East End Avenue. We've given a great deal of thought to the layouts of the apartments and a suite of amenity spaces that will feel like rooms in a wonderful house. This will be an apartment building for today and tomorrow."

The design concept for 20 East End Avenue embodies the heritage of distinguished, pre-war architecture, including its traditional 11’ ceilings typical of that era. The building’s intricate brick and handset grey Indiana limestone façade includes oversized bay windows to maximize each home’s natural light and views of the East River, Juliet balconies and numerous setback roof terraces.

20 East End Avenue will feature a spectacular gated porte-cochere and motor court that opens into a secluded central courtyard, offering residents the option of a private arrival to the building. The courtyard includes elaborate trelliswork and a hand carved limestone wall fountain. The circular drop off leads to an octagonal lobby featuring Vermont Racette white marble and Atajia Azul limestone in a custom pattern, rift cut limed and grey-washed white oak paneling, a12-foot Venetian plaster ceiling with a reveal pattern and a custom alabaster and bronze chandelier, and an adjacent seating area with custom furnishings.

A remarkable focal point of the lobby is its blackened steel sculptural staircase, with treads and risers made from imported Atajia Azaul limestone, forged steel and bronze railing, and a breathtaking three-story bronze hanging pendant light fixture down the center. The three-tiered, circular staircase graciously connects its residents to the library on the second level, which features a fireplace and a handsomely appointed library featuring a book collection curated by Stern. Adjacent to the library through tall double doors, is an elegant billiard room with a wet bar stocked with Christofle lead-crystal glasses and a wall of privately keyed lockers for each family to store their favorite cordials. The billiard room is perfectly located adjacent to the property’s private poker room. These second floor amenity spaces include expansive windows fronting East End Avenue and are designed to extend each homeowner’s living environment.

Taking the staircase down one level from the lobby, residents and their guests will enjoy a spectacular wine cellar featuring a private dining room with vaulted ceiling, a butler’s pantry and private, separate temperature and humidity controlled wine storage units. In addition, the lower level will include a children’s game room and lounge; and a sophisticatedly designed 3,000-square-foot fitness center and spa with high- and low-impact training rooms, private treatment rooms and a sauna, as well as a bicycle storage area. The building will also include a 24/7- attended lobby concierge.

"20 East End Avenue offers a level of fine living you cannot get elsewhere. From the secure privacy of the porte-cochere, to the high ceilings, to the fabulous amenities – all of my agents are excited about this one," commented Pamela Liebman, president and CEO of Corcoran.

RESIDENCES The residences at 20 East End Avenue will consist of 43 two- to six-bedroom homes including three duplex townhomes and two stunning penthouses at the top. Many of the residences feature private entrances. The residences range in size from approximately 1,900 to over 6,000 square feet, with anticipated asking prices from approximately $4.5 million to over $25 million. The penthouses range from 5,900 to approximately 6,300 square feet, with the top penthouse featuring an expansive 4,000+ square-foot private terrace overlooking the Upper East Side and the East River. With custom interiors by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, homes will feature 11-foot ceiling heights, rift and quartersawn Appalachian white oak hardwood floors in dark walnut stain, custom designed paneled entry and interior doors as well moldings and casings designed specifically for the building. Many residences will feature private setback terraces, and a select few residences will include private gardens along with outdoor gas and wood fireplaces. Several residences will have interior gas fireplaces and some of the last city approved wood-burning fireplaces.

KITCHENS The kitchens will feature custom millwork cabinetry and Taj Mahal quartzite countertops with pale grey crackle tile backsplash. Custom islands stand as the kitchens’ centerpieces, finished in natural oak, with under-counter storage. The kitchen’s appliances are provided exclusively by Gaggenau and include a fully integrated stainless-steel-lined refrigerator and freezer, gas cooktop with a signature dark bronze exhaust hood and utensil and pot rail, as well as the latest enamel encased speed ovens.

BATHROOMS The master bathrooms will feature crown moldings, a custom milk-glass vanity encased in a polished nickel frame with marble countertops, under-mount sinks, high-honed marble slab walls and radiant heated flooring, Toto water closets and imported fittings from Lefroy Brooks of London in polished nickel finish.
