Kim Chung Up, a disciple of Le Corbusier, built this complex in 1966. In its present state, the site is a vestige of the original hilly topography, which existed before the present city, surrounded by high walls which also ensure its safety. The original composition was based on a sequence of 3 buildings, of which 2 were principal, remarkable for their spectacular cover: the chancellery and the embassy. The third building, is more linked to the landscape, by its redent form: the chancellery and the residence.
The residence of the ambassador is relatively intact but the other buildings have been altered by numerous additions that completely broke the principle of accompaniment and relation to the landscape present at the origin. It is this spirit that we wish to find again with the project that we propose for this new embassy. The project consists of a series of blocks that seem to emerge from the mountain landscape, conceived taking into account the security imperatives that are managed horizontally and vertically: the public areas are closest to the reception, confidential areas are at the last level and the furthest from the reception. Finally, at the foot of the facade of the hall, creates a generous courtyard of honor connected to the rest of the existing road, hilly and forming landscape.
