EMERGENCE - 170 UNITS OF HOUSING AND SHOPS

Vincent Parreira Atelier Architecture AAVP as Architects

The overall project is enclosed in pieces where the structure is found within an intrinsic and integral parts of the architecture.

A white concrete exoskeleton of posts which include: an arrangement of indented columns and plate floors that identify the building, and the inhabited and warmed spaces recessed that unveil, reveal, and disclose generous surfaces with terraces.

A great care is given to the housing development's quality. Inhabitants will have an outside space on a scale of an extended room, each person being able to enjoy a walk around the space that extends downwards all the way towards the lower terrace.

A great pleasure was taken in developing a flexible range of apartments, from studios to two bedrooms, that were made available to ever increasing diversifying family needs.

Also, the spatiality was believed to be an important issue as well. The sheer volume of the project is complemented by several archetypes who interfere both in a positive and negative manner that makes it more or less relatable to the other nearby apartments.

The tall building is drilled 6 meters wide through 6 level high chinks. Those breaches are considered to be full opportunities. They provide visual breakthroughs and potential ventilation, which could be used to open up and allow more light and beautiful views to the apartment.

Finally, additional surfaces are allowed to fit within the structure through re-inventing ways to inhabit a collective residential building.
