Buildings Walter

Jean WALTER is one of the rare architects to promote in France the concept of garden cities, which he discovers in England. Buildings of the porte de la muette , called ‘’buildings Walter’’ was realized from 1928 till 1931 thanks to the support of the architects of the Administration. Occupying a vast quadrangle isolated between the Bois de boulogne, the Parc de la muette and the Walk of Ranelagh, these buildings train a set of a neo-classic purified style characteristic of period "Art deco".

Compound of big luxury houses, handled in a most contemporary way for its period, this group was built in the style of ' garden cities ', sheltering real gardens between its buildingsand roofs terraces originally dressed in gravel.

Our study aimed at establishing a diagnosis of facades allowing to propose the adequate works of their restoration and the appropriate modus operandi of their cleaning today.
