Elena cerizza’s office /atelier was established four years ago from the architect's desire to create a place that could combine private and professional life. The spaces of the car workshop that was there before change after the refurbishment and an important work of excavation of the basement, in this way “studio garage is born”. What remains from the previous activity are the structure and the shop signage, whereas the interior spaces are completely redesigned to accommodate a new intended use.

The 300 sq.m. loft, equally divided in two levels, spans from the road to the interior courtyard of a typical Milanese house. the office, the living room and the bedroom with its services, follow one another in the rooms of the ground floor and the choice of the uniform flooring, with parts of black and white cement, gives unity to the spaces. objects related to the world of interior design , like books, photos and pieces of art that are placed in bookshelves and walls, show how elena has always been passionate about architecture and design.

The archive, the tv room, the laundry and the gym are located downstairs, and here the different use of the space is visually notable by the different colors of the vault: white for the workspaces, and natural brick for the domestic ones.

So the principal aim of the architect was to create a house/atelier, a place able to accommodate and to exhibit the prototypes made during the years, a space in progress, that changes together with the office’s life and its projects, always equal to himself but different at the same time.
