Located in the Castle Hill historic district in central Austin, Texas. This remodel of a historic, load bearing masonry structure sought to re-imagine its spaces for contemporary living. On the first floor a small addition to the rear of the structure allowed for an open and flowing kitchen with all of the amenities of modern living. Upstairs, all rooms were re-imagined, to allow for a spacious primary suite and also additional secondary bedrooms and bathrooms for a growing family.

Finding methods to marry the old house with new construction methods was the greatest challenge. Much of the infrastructure of the house had to be reconsidered. Many new structural elements had to be placed within the confines of the existing structure to allow for the more open and flowing design that was achieved.

All material and interior design choices were intended to feel as though they could have always been there, but with a flair for the quirky and contemporary.
