Chamberí Café

The Chamberí Café is an interior renovation completed in September 2025 in one of Madrid's most architecturally layered neighborhoods  a district that combines the grandeur of classical Madrid with a sophisticated, contemporary culture.

The client's brief was disarmingly clear: a calm, introspective space where what stands out is the quality of the product and the quality of the human interactions inside. Not the design.

This clarity of intent became the project's central challenge. Designing a space that reads as 'not designed' while achieving a genuinely contemporary aesthetic required extraordinary control of every variable. The solution was a commitment to what we call spatial kindness a language of curved forms that enter and leave the space gently, a chromatic palette reduced to its minimum, warm indirect lighting, and materials chosen for acoustic and tactile comfort rather than visual impact.

The construction focused on three elements: custom curved plaster walls and ceiling transitions, acoustic textile panels integrated flush into the wall surfaces, and ergonomic furniture with softened profiles. No sharp corners survive in the final project. Every edge is resolved with a radius that varies depending on its role  larger in the walls, tighter in the furniture, nearly imperceptible in the millwork.

The result is a space that does not compete with its users. People who sit here tend to stay. The café becomes the backdrop for conversation, for focused work, for the pause that Madrid, at its best, knows how to offer.
