The project is a detached country house for a family of three on a plot of land in Halkidiki. The concept was formed based on the need to ensure maximum privacy from the neighbouring buildings but also between the units of the residence and on the other hand the data of the plot, the view towards the sea and the slope of the land.
The residence is divided into two independent volumes that separate the common living areas and the private bedrooms.
With the detachment of the two volumes and the introduction of a transparent corridor that forms their internal connection emerges an outdoor recessed space that is configured as a private garden within the body of the residence.
The two volumes are oriented with their main faces north-east towards the sea, while the south view which faces the buildings of the neighboring plot is configured without any openings, with the exception of the glass part of the corridor which constitutes a visual escape to the natural environment through the residence and reveals snapshots of the inner life to the outside as users move from one section to another.
The private garden and corridor are central elements of the architectural concept as they render the two housing sections functionally independent achieving privacy inside the residence, while at the same time through their transparent quality they visually unify the outdoor and indoor spaces allowing plenty of natural light and cooling and creating a summer residence atmosphere.
The design is enhanced by the simple aesthetics and use of a few different materials. For the interior white shades and a wooden floor are implemented. For the exterior, the part of the building facing the street and the neighboring buildings is covered with stone, while the volume facing the patio and the forest has a light-colored thermal facade.
