The £8.5m Edward Alleyn Building includes the 350 seat Michael Croft Theatre, named after the founder of the National Youth Theatre (NYT). The theatre is designed to be extremely flexible, with excellent acoustic qualities and sightlines to the stage. The building also houses general teaching facilities and a studio theatre for use by the NYT.
The foyer, a top-lit 3-storey atrium space with glazed facades, provides views over the School grounds. From the foyer a new terrace opens out, allowing views over the playing fields. The creation of a double quad between the new and existing school buildings creates a new heart to the School, which benefits the whole School community, both physically and socially.
