Apartment is located in Emirgan which is one the oldest and the most beautiful districts in İstanbul. This place is like a junction point of Asian and European part of the city and has a fantastic Bosphorus view. The building of this apartment was from 1960. The apartment is located on garden floor of this ‘Bauhaus’ style building. So it has a perfect view as a combination of green and blue.
There are 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen and 1 living room. The most important fact that all spaces are under a perfect daylight all day long. So we prefer using project-wide soft lightnings rather than powerful pieces.
There were a wall between living area and dining area as a separation. Because of this separation and roof height the both of these rooms seemed like small, limited places. Firstly we extinguished this wall to create wide and clear spaces.
We use project-wide natural materials like solid wood, ‘calacatta’ marble, terrazzo and rattan palm etc. We can see a bookcase which was produced by solid wood at living room.
The door is also wood which separates kitchen and living room. When you look at this door from living room, you can see it as a part of the wall between these two areas.
All cupboards of the kitchen and dining table are ‘calacatta’. On the other hand original materials of the house were protected. We renovated them through some little alterations. And for some of them we made some little ‘redesign’ touches. For example of these touches; rattan palm covers of radiator, herringbone wood parquet of living aresas, ‘terrazzo’ flooring of bathrooms and wall coverings.
The most of fixed and movable furnitures were produced by Cisimdesign. Only lounge chairs in living room are ‘Gubi’. Furthermore all of home accessories are also Gubi, Menu and Normann.
