When home interior retailer Flinders moved into the huge, historic building Affuitenhal (at Hembrugterrein in Zaandam, 2,050 m2 of floor space with 10-metre-high ceilings, dating from 1931), they turned to DZAP with the challenge of creating a retail space with catering, offices and a warehouse. Our answer: a huge store in which light has free reign and customers can comfortably survey all the offerings, with a café in which they can relax and talk through their ideas. And the offices were created by placing a number of containers in the vast hall space, which we set up as workspaces.
