GLS Netherlands, a major player in the logistics sector, has relocated its headquarters to the dynamic Spaklerweg area in Amsterdam. The move reflects the company’s ambition to grow and evolve, while offering employees a modern and sustainable work environment. The new headquarters is designed to embody GLS’s values of connection, care, and personal service.
The design concept, developed by AREA designstudio, draws inspiration from natural flows and movement — echoing the fluidity and dynamism of the logistics industry. The interior is structured around two core zones: a calm, focused workspace and a vibrant, social meeting area. These zones are defined not only by layout but also by color and atmosphere — cool, soft hues for concentration and clarity, and warm, energetic tones for collaboration and creativity.
Throughout the space, biophilic design elements have been integrated to support well-being and connection to nature. Organic shapes, soft textures, and natural materials create a balanced, human-centered environment. Graphics and visual storytelling enhance the brand presence and add a sense of personality to the space.
A key feature of the office is the welcoming central lunch area, where employees gather daily for fresh and healthy meals. This space is designed for comfort and connection, supported by a fully equipped kitchen that reflects GLS’s focus on hospitality and employee care.
Custom design solutions, layered materials, and thoughtful spatial planning contribute to an office that supports both individual productivity and team collaboration. The result is a future-proof headquarters that not only facilitates daily operations, but also strengthens company culture and employee experience — in line with GLS’s mission to deliver what truly matters.
