A 1905 Beach home was reinvented as a light-filled, energy efficient, healthy home. Although strictly modern, the new design respectfully explores building structures and materials found in the area to complement the neighbourhood while creating a modern original with unique sculptural aesthetics.
Emphasis was also put on creating a home with technical configurations to support well-being, as well as economical outcomes for maintaining and operating the building — among them: abundant natural light and cross ventilation; walls and roof with long-lasting cool, white metal panelling; breathable wall membranes; continuous insulation; HRV with air filtration; and smart technologies to control lighting, heating and cooling and to monitor energy consumption.
Our involvement spanned all planning phases, including architectural and interior design and project development, guiding the transformation of an early 20th century Beaches house into a contemporary home that respects its context while embracing a distinctly modern character.
