Heden is a coworking brand founded and headquartered in Lisbon, Portugal.
With a deep commitment to sustainability since its inception, it is one of the few coworking companies worldwide with a B Corp certification. Heden’s latest coworking space inside Rossio Station - one of Lisbon’s globally recognisable iconic landmarks - is centred around two principle tenets: sustainability and flexibility.
Spanning across two floors inside the historic structure, the design results in a contemporary workspace conceived with meticulous attention to detail in order to foster its harmonious coexistence with the 19th century structure and its unique characteristics and features. The creation of a mezzanine extension and a feature metal staircase - creating additional usable floor area and a restructured circulation pattern inside the building - allows for the highly efficient and effective use of the floorplates, creating distinct work zones and social areas with unique character within the space.
Custom designed and manufactured natural felt panels with a geometric motif were locally sourced and installed across the mezzanine elements, with the aim to provide acoustic comfort across the generous double height areas while lending the entire space a contemporary but timeless and comfortable ambiance. The custom designed desking solution with groups of six workstations with bamboo tabletops placed on a mobile metal base with castors, provides a high degree of durability and flexibility by making the potential rearrangement of the desking layout easy and effortless.
The thoughtful intervention, adaptation and reuse for the new coworking function gives the building a new dynamic purpose and attracts some of the most innovative digital companies worldwide.
