Situated in the charming Bairro do Junqueiro district of Cascais, the two-story 450 square metres structure is thoughtfully organized to optimize spatial efficiency and create a harmonious flow between the different areas.
The ground floor of the residence is dedicated to the primary living and entertaining spaces, with careful consideration given to both privacy and accessibility. Here, residents and guests are greeted by inviting living and dining areas that seamlessly connect, providing an open and welcoming environment. The ground floor also accommodates a home office as well as a guest room for the convenience of visitors. The first floor houses the more private zones of the residence. The master bedroom, designed as a retreat for the homeowners, exudes a sense of tranquility and luxury overlooking the garden. Additionally, there are two extra bedrooms and another dedicated workspace. The architecture of the Carcavelos Residence pays careful attention to its surroundings, taking full advantage of the beautiful natural setting. The prominent south-facing façade offers generous views of the pool and extensive garden that serves as a serene oasis, complementing the architectural design and offering a seamless integration of indoor and outdoor living.
A distinctive feature of the Carcavelos Residence is its sculptural monolithic concrete canopy that governs the composition of the building and serves the hybrid functions of controlling sunlight and temperature. It both helps to capture the afternoon sunlight enhancing natural daylighting - and at the same time it protects the interior triple height atrium from harsh sunlight during the strong midday Portuguese sun, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment throughout the day.
