House CV

Designoir Interiors | Laura Ghiurtz Architecture as Interior Architects

Located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in a neighborhood near the city center, this house was built on the foundation of an existing one in order to suit the needs and taste of the clients.

The house rebuilt project follows the slope of the land, which makes the access in the house to be on the ground floor (where the master bedroom, bathroom and dressing room are located), then descending to the semi-basement (living room, kitchen and bathroom), through which one can access the back garden.

The interior design brief was to incorporate the clients wishes for a large – celebrity-like- dressing room, a master bathroom with shower and freestanding bathtub, a high-end kitchen with concealed appliances as well as the clients love for copper finishes.

Since the house is exposed to natural light only on one side, the main challenge was organizing the main spaces so that they get enough sunlight during the day. Because of this, at the ground floor, acting also like a privacy buffer between the entry hall and the master bedroom, is the 25 sqm dressing room. To bring more natural light into this space, a mirror wall with cabinets was installed on the entire wall.

The choice of luxurious and natural materials translates into almost every corner of the 120sqm house: the wardrobes have a natural wood finish inside, LED lights and smokey glass fronts, for the kitchen we choose anti-fingerprint cabinet fronts made of tempered glass.

The master bedroom is well lit, which is why we could go for a dark colour and wallpaper on the wall and ceiling. To balance the dark greys and complement the copper metal finishes, we choose some colorful soft seating: the blue velvet couch and the blush pink dining chairs.
