Located on an appenzell-Ausserrhoder north slope, the house enjoys a fantastic view over Lake Constance to Friedrichshaven in nearby Germany. Its pentagonal shape derives from the desire to align the main facade with the valley and the distant lake. The traditional farmhouses to be found on Appenzell's slopes serve as a reference, with their display façades that are carefully designed for the viewer.
