When we first looked at this 80’s apartment plan the partition came to our attention because ⅓ of the area was isolated and dedicated to services rooms, additionally, was blocking good luminosity.
The renovation project proposed a fluid living connecting spaces through the kitchen and the custom furniture, that spreads along different rooms and holds different functions, sometimes like storage, sometimes like a bench.
The spatial integration also allowed brightness rooms and was explored by a light palette, which reinforced the unity that holds all rooms without distinguishing service and social areas.
The big column between kitchen and living room, which initially looked like a barrier, became a privacy element to the TV room that continued to be integrated through the shared sofa.
Besides the spatial integration privacy was granted to bedrooms through a built-in sliding door at hallway. Originally the apartment had three bedrooms and one suite, but looking for a better solution to the new residents, we changed to two suites and one flexible dorm, which enclose the home office and guests room with a dedicated bathroom.
