Kaleidos is a software development and technology consultancy company with a team of committed and highly creative professionals. It is known for its collaborative culture and for advocating the creation of free and open source software (allowing the community to contribute to and benefit from its development).
Founded with the aim of creating an innovative working environment, focused on transparency, autonomy and active participation of all team members, Kaleidos is especially known for developing Penpot, a completely free and open design and prototyping tool.

After more than 12 years of existence, they decided that it was time to have a new space according to their new reality. So, they contacted 2BOLD to give shape to their headquarters: Office 2030. An innovative space that would facilitate a fluid hybrid experience and be a tangible reflection of the culture and philosophy of Kaleidos.
CONCEPTUAL BASIS
Through a deep immersion in internal culture and processes, and having consulted with the entire team, the KLOUD Manifesto (Kaleidos Laboratory Of Unique Dreams) was generated as the basis of the design.
A manifesto whose 11 key points are based on the Maker Movement, the Open Source philosophy, the Agile Manifesto, the Arts & Crafts Movement and the Bauhaus.

Its keys: to generate a space with the user at the centre, giving them the freedom to use it according to their needs. Flexible and innovative, with the aim of facilitating collaboration, information exchange and enjoyment. An optimistic, coherent and beautiful space.

SPATIAL DIVERSITY:
Thus, a diverse programme was proposed that went beyond the usual office, with new ways of living and completely adapted to the Kaleider culture.
The proposal included a catalogue of spaces of different scales and focused on different needs, ranging from those dedicated to one-person tasks to other large-scale spaces for events in which to generate community and passing through areas for disconnection, ideation and collaboration.

In this way, rooms were developed such as:
Ada Lovelace: The concentration work meadow.
Simone Ortega: A versatile space that serves as a dining room, informal meeting area and presentation centre.
Hipathia: The ultimate maker area, with furniture on wheels and equipped for talks and presentations.
Luthien: The relaxation room to unwind, relax body and mind and let your imagination run wild.
Montessori: Designed with play and discovery in mind, with several flexible stations, an informal meeting area, a cabinet of curiosities...

In addition to these, other spaces appear, such as Katherine Johnson, Ella Fitzgerald, Hedy Lamarr, Amelia Earhart, Clara Campoamor... each one catering to specific needs and linking its content to the contribution of the woman after whom it is named.
VALUES:
Decision making was carried out with Kaleidos' strong values in mind:
A thorough exercise was done to include furniture from their previous space in order to give it a second life.
To generate the new pieces of bespoke furniture and ad-hoc tools, the base materials chosen were oiled birch wood and polygood©, a new generation material based on 100% recycled and recyclable plastic.
In order to foster inclusion and diversity in the community, the new furniture pieces (both catalogue and custom-made) were chosen with the different needs of their users in mind.
Paying homage to the Kaleider culture, where each member of their team chooses their own NCS when they join, each space was associated with a colour.

COLLABORATION AND INSPIRATION:
Honouring its philosophy, the entire Kaleidos team was involved at different points in the process. Thus, the final design was made not only based on their needs, preferences and group character, but also thanks to their proposals and contributions.
It was they, among other things, who gave names to the different spaces they now inhabit, taking into account their uses and characteristics, choosing the aforementioned names of women who have left their mark on history.
As icing on the cake, each space hosted a work of art made specifically for it, honouring the woman who gave it its name and representing her main contribution.

KALEIDOS LABORATORY OF UNIQUE DREAMS:
This achieved, through an inclusive and collaborative process, a space that not only responds to the functional needs of everyday life, but also embodies the core values of Kaleidos: transparency, autonomy, creativity and community engagement.
KLOUD is a testament to the power of collaboration and Kaleidos' dedication to excellence and innovation.
Because coherence matters.
