Warehouse

Old meets new - the renovation and expansion of the former Raiffeisen warehouse in Walkertshofen will create a new ballroom and thus a new village centre in the village. A deliberate design, simple materials and exciting contrasts give the typology of the warehouse, which is worthy of preservation, a new appearance. With the simple masonry base, the classic loading ramp and wooden cladding, the character of the nave is deliberately retained.

It is not the building itself that is valuable from the point of view of monument conservation, but the typology of the warehouse. The grown structure of the simple barn gets its special charm by the reconstruction and the careful composition of existing and new materials. Just as the simplest materials were used in the historical context for the construction of a warehouse, traditional interlocking tiles or saw-rough larch wood were used for the revitalization. As a contrast, newly added elements such as the foyer or the extension of the event hall with concrete, metal and glass make a difference.

The handling of new and old is reflected not only in the material but also in the cubature. The event hall penetrates the original building. Inserted transversely into the existing building, the hall fans out into the surrounding landscape via three extension buildings. The original wooden ramp for loading in front of the building is given a new function with the foyer. Exciting combinations of various surfaces create a new setting for events.
