Contemporary design codes and unexpected hues give new life to the impressive Haussmannian architecture of this Parisian family home. Located opposite the Parc Monceau in Paris’ chic 8th district, Camille Hermand Architectures renovated this large Haussmannian apartment for a young family wanting a contemporary home, without losing its traditional charm. To respect and give new life to its original features, Camille twists its typically Haussmannian architecture with contemporary design codes and an unexpected palette of colours.

The entrance halls conserves its generous proportions and finds its former glory with a bold choice of moody hues and mysterious wall coverings. The main living room becomes a central and multi-functional zone for all the family, anchored by a semi-open plan, made-to-measure kitchen. Designed by Camille, the kitchen sits comfortably between a dining area with its large reading room and an informal space for the kids. Throughout the apartment, smokey pastels and moody tones of grey emphasise the timeless charm of the Haussmannian architecture. Traditional features like the high ceilings, decorative mouldings and parquet flooring take on a softer, modern appeal when contrasted against a contemporary selection of furniture.
