“It all began with a single sentence: ‘Without highlighting Busan, the slogan of Milhaedam, we planned a premium wheat noodle house focused entirely on wheat and noodles.’”

To express Milhaedam’s identity within the space, we needed a delicate process of closely observing wheat and noodles from different perspectives. We repeatedly tasted milmyeon and observed how it was made to explore how that experience could be translated into a visual and sensory space.

Starting from the solid grain of wheat, through its transformation into fine flour, and finally into noodles, we studied each stage thoroughly. Our goal was to represent these elements throughout the space in various forms. This became the foundation for designing both the façade and interior, allowing us to express the purity and nature of wheat and noodles across the entire environment.

In alignment with the brand philosophy, we aimed not just to create an eye-catching building, but an architecture that tells the story of milmyeon. The curved form of noodles emerging from a mixer was interpreted as a vertical repetition and expressed on the façade, serving as an opening line to Milhaedam’s narrative.

The first floor is fully designed as a dining space. To reduce visual distractions, the exposed ceiling was painted black, while the main installation, made of fabric resembling the color and form of milmyeon, was installed as a central object. Pebble flooring provides a sense of calmness and nature, while special textured wall coatings echo the natural graininess of wheat in an organic and irregular way.

The staircase to the second floor continues the same material palette to ensure continuity and a unified mood.

We believe interior design starts from psychological comfort—from intuitive circulation, appropriate table dimensions, and ergonomically safe stair heights to overall spatial safety. With that in mind, the movement flows of staff and customers were clearly separated, allowing for undisturbed dining experiences.

From the clean, refined exterior to the immersive, sensory interior fully infused with the story of wheat and noodles, we hope that this space marks either the beginning or the end of a memorable journey for travelers, and offers locals a uniquely warm and special place within the Busan Station area.
