Set above the Maui coastline, Minimal House is shaped by a design brief centered on simplicity and restraint. Three sides buffer the residence from the street and neighboring properties, while the ocean-facing side opens broadly to the Pacific.

The home is organized as a sequence of gardens, circulation, and living spaces that culminates in a deep, shaded lanai. Pocketing glass doors allow the interiors to open fully to the terrace, pool, spa, and sunken gathering area. Deep overhangs and linear metal louvers provide shade, while cement plaster, black anodized aluminum, and glass establish a limited material palette. Photovoltaic panels occupy the flat roof, extending the project’s emphasis on reduction and clarity.
