Notiz Hotel in Leeuwarden and Studio OAK started an interesting collaboration. The challenge: ‘’To blend the characteristics of Leeuwarden (Frisian) with luxury, sustainability and integrated home automation. The combination of extensive research for the right materials, some guts and a perfect application created the desired outcome. “Studio OAK especially helped us with the choices for materials that fit well together” - Anton van der Sluis, NHL Stenden Hospitality Group. For example, with a concrete floor as a base, supplemented with second-hand furniture and the right materials, the hotel exudes the luxury we want. The hotel has a young and hip appearance that completely suits the target group of hotel management students who work and learn there. That is exactly what was envisioned when the collaboration started. Upon entering you are welcomed by the characteristic Frisian features. The latest digital developments complete the stay in the luxury suites.
For the Notiz Hotel in Leeuwarden, we entered into an intensive collaboration that lasted approximately two years. The challenge was to fuse the characteristics of Leeuwarden with luxury, sustainability and home automation. Good research into the choice of materials, a good dose of guts and perfect execution ensure the desired result. “For example, with a concrete floor as a base, supplemented with second-hand furniture and the right materials, the hotel exudes the luxury we want.” - Anton van der Sluis, NHL Stenden Hospitality Group.
The hotel has a young and hip appearance that completely suits the target group. The Notiz hotel is mainly run by hotel management students. Upon entering the lobby you immediately see the characteristic Frisian features. The latest digital developments have been used in the suites. ''From idea to perfect execution. Here we showed with Studio OAK what we are capable of together.” - Anton van der Sluis.
What was the brief?
Sustainability and individuality were an important theme. The Hotel had to be clearly different from the average Hotels and “Sence of Place” was very important. You had to experience that you are in Friesland. In addition, the new suites had to radiate luxury and be equipped with the latest "gadgets" in the field of Domotics.
What were the key challenges?
Achieving the desired level within the available budget was a challenge for this project. But with this budget, Studio Oak has managed to build a beautiful hotel.
