Founded in 1923 in Copenhagen, Novo Nordisk is a global healthcare company that employs more than 44.000 people in 80 offices and markets its products in 170 countries. For the renovation of its office in Quinta da Fonte, the pharmaceutical company hired Vector Mais to design, build, and supply furniture to offer local employees the best working conditions.

Following the company's internal guidelines, the renovated workspace includes three areas that complement each other: a quiet area where the employee performs individual activities in total concentration; a dynamic area where a team member can perform an individual action, but with the possibility of interaction with colleagues; and a collaboration area where users meet informally to work as a team.

These areas have adjoining lounge spaces, phone booths, and informal meeting spaces, contributing to a diversified space occupation and proactive use. Making a parallel between Lisbon and Copenhagen, the Vector Mais team developed a project that fuses Nordic minimalism with the warm tones of Portugal, creating a welcoming, functional and inspiring office. With lots of natural light, plants, and quality materials, the workspace offers a serene atmosphere, increasing employees' quality of life and productivity. Through great attention to detail, the development of bespoke carpentry solutions, and a careful selection of furniture and lighting, it was possible to create an office adapted to human needs, where comfort and well-being are fundamental factors.

Inside the new Novo Nordisk office, Arki-Table adjustable optimizes its ability to meet the needs of flexibility and functionality of modern offices, thanks to a new version with the height-adjustable top, allowing to choose the ideal height of the top, from 740 to 1140 mm. This versatile table is here combined with Babila barstools, designed by Odo Fioravanti, which are characterized by simplicity and directness, to recall a timeless shape.

Brand description

Pedrali is an Italian company that produces contemporary furniture for contract and residential. The collection is the result of a careful and accurate research aimed to create functional and versatile industrial design products made of metal, plastic materials, wood as well as upholstery. Seatings, tables, complements and lighting exclusively manufactured in Italy through a design process which combines tradition and innovation, engineering excellence and creative brilliance.

The “100% Made in Italy” philosophy becomes real through the internal production in the headquarters of Mornico al Serio (Bergamo), where the automated warehouse designed by architect Cino Zucchi is based, and in the wood division in Manzano (Udine).

The high quality and respect for the environment represent long-established practices. This is proved by the use of water-based coatings, made principally from plant-derived resins, for the wooden products, and by the certifications ISO 9001 for quality management system, ISO 14001 for environmental management system, ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, FSC® C114358 for the use of timber from certified forests and Greenguard for low emissions of toxic substances.

In 2020 the company has presented its first collections made from recycled polypropylene and completed the study on Corporate Carbon Footprint which allows an overview of the impact of the production cycle on the environment, obtaining the certification UNI EN ISO 14064-1:2019 in 2021.

The experimentation of production technologies, the use of different materials and the cooperation with many designers have allowed Pedrali to achieve important awards such as the Compasso d'Oro ADI for Frida chair.
