Set within a vast natural landscape, the private residence in Cherry Hills, designed by Alvarez Morris Studio, stands as a refined architectural expression in Arapahoe County, Colorado. Defined by generous proportions and essential lines, the project combines a strong architectural presence with a close relationship to its surrounding environment.
A key aspect of the project was the response to Colorado’s significant temperature variations. Capoferri developed and fabricated the window systems in AISI 316 stainless steel, ensuring high performance in terms of durability and climatic comfort.
The intervention includes two large double-height façades featuring thermally broken folding doors (2+2), designed to create continuity between interior and exterior spaces when fully or partially opened. The system was entirely custom-engineered and is based on a dual-track configuration: a slim upper track, designed to minimise the visual impact in line with the architectural concept, and a floor-level track with a ball-bearing runner capable of supporting the weight of the doors.
All hardware and visible components are made of stainless steel and were specifically designed for this opening system. Following the design phase, full-scale prototypes were produced in-house to test the mechanisms and verify all required performance standards, including thermal insulation, acoustics, wind resistance, and air and water tightness.
More than a luxury residence, Cherry Hills represents a balance between architecture and nature. Its restrained language and careful material choices contribute to a living environment where comfort, performance and landscape coexist in harmony.
