Interior design apartments project in Sanlúcar

The commission must solve a basic second-residence programme for a young family with children, combining the need of being useful for the family and the ease of receiving guests

every now and again.

The two-bedroom apartment did not originally provide many rearrangement options in the bedroom and bathroom sections due to its limited surface area, but the entrance, kitchen, and living room-dining room areas have been organised with a contemporary connected open floor plan purpose. A course through different interrelated ambiences is intended, thanks to the visual connexions and the continuity of the material.

The entrance is solved with a large floor-to-ceiling walnut wood panelling, giving warmth, hiding the kitchen cabinet, and dividing the kitchen, living room, and entrance areas. A porcelain floor runs through the entrance, living room, halls, dining room, and covers the kitchen and bathroom walls. This entrance is just illuminated by a corner floor lamp and a led over the panelled wall,  thus increasing the contrasts of the materials. The slotted panelling is modulated in order to integrate all the elements that furnish the entrance, such as electrical mechanisms, a welcoming mirror, and so on.

The dining room maintains part of the lacquered paneling from the reception wall, behind the sofa and next to the dining table, contrasting with the cosy woods of the kitchen and the TV cabinet. Spot lighting over the low table, with a floor lamp, and over the dining table, with a ceiling lamp. The atmosphere is accompanied by an indirect led around the perimeter recessed ceiling, which hides the darkening mechanisms. Anti-fingerprint laminated boards and black porcelain stones throughout the living room-dining room and kitchen area improve the design. The niches, with dark glass and interior led, nuance and give depth to all the furniture.

The whole access to the bedrooms is divided with a dispersal, hidden by panelled doors which try to enlarge the small spaces, completely illuminated with indirect linear light. The unpretentious layout and finishes in the bedrooms, combining lacquered boards with natural oak woodwork panelling and enhanced with a general lighting, creates a representative ambience for these rooms. The lighting is completed with a wall light over a bedside table in order to generate a higher contrast and facilitate reading. The master bedroom features a panelled wardrobe that maintains the overall aesthetic, and matches the finishes of the headboard and bedside tables.

The second bedroom is opt for a bunk bed with different widths, a 90cm lower bed and a 130cm over bed, attending to the house versatility for family members or guests. This room aims to meet the needs of children, with the possibility of using the low bed as a sofa, maintaining the warmth and comfort of the rest of the design.

The auxiliar furniture for this room maintains the kitchen island and living room furniture concept, with anti-fingerprint laminated boards, Fenix style in moss green and a matt black side that enhances the attribute of these materials.

Finally, the bathroom intends to surprise by contrasting the bathroom area, that is resolved with the same porcelain floor, and the sink area, that covers the wood used in the bedrooms, creating an added feeling of warmth in the smallest area. Looking for abstraction, the sink is proposed as a sculptural pedestal covered with the previously used anti-fingerprint laminated board material.

The interior design concept has been based on the continuity of a small number of materials, chosen to create warmth and comfort. Contrasted continuity using materials such as natural woods, laminations, lacquered, stones, ceramics and fabrics. The project, maintaining the practical needs of a family home, aims to create continuity with a harmonic contrasts between areas and textures, accompanied by lighting that enhances comfort.
