Located in the Vaud Pre-Alps, Villars-sur-Ollon is a large, fast-growing mountain village. Chalet Françoise Romaine and its three neighbors were built in 1957 by a local carpenter. As the chalet was in poor condition and very poorly insulated, it was necessary to rethink the entire thermal envelope.
Blown- in interior insulation, a new boiler and replacement windows enabled the chalet to meet current energy renovation stand- ards. By opening up the kitchen to the dining room, the plan offers more light throughout the first floor layout.
On the 1st floor, the bathrooms have been renovated, and the stairwell ceiling now opens up to provide double height. In addition, a ladder now provides access to the mezzanine, where a dormi- tory has been created.
