Renovation of Kaningos 21 Hotel

Kaningos Hotel summary

2004 The project was completed before the 2004 Olympic Games. The architectural design of this “boutique” hotel focuses on the elaboration of the building’s envelope and the dialect between the city life and the interior space. The repetitive openings and the warm red limestone cladding of the façade, sharpen the intensity of the building’s presence in Kaniggos square in the commercial center of Athens. The openings are the visual connection of the room-cells to the Academias Street’s axis, towards which they are oriented. The architectural approach to this project is sculptural, one gets the impression that the building has been carved out of a stone volume.
