Sahara Noir Apartment

Located at the base of Tâmpa Mountain, with a superb view over Brașov, this 2-room apartment had a lot of unexplored potential. The clients wanted a remodel with industrial influences, brick accents and dark tones. Already having clear design directions, the concept took shape fluidly, in close communication with the owners, revealing a completely new, surprising and unrecognizable home.

We modified the configuration of the entrance hall by canceling an access to the kitchen, thus creating a generous storage with a bench. The pillar that delimits 3 of the rooms - hall, kitchen, living room, perceived as the ultimate challenge in this space - finally became the nucleus from which several essential functions start - the TV area in the living room, the efficient storage in the hall and the subtle transition to the working tops of the kitchen.

Following the wishes of the beneficiaries, the industrial style was introduced into the living room with the help of the wall clad with decorative brick which provides a vibrant background. The rest of the walls were painted with charcoal gray washable or covered with custom furniture in the same color. Custom-made metal assemblies continue the line of industrial design and make the transition from one function to another, unifying the look of the entire apartment.

The transition to the kitchen is made through warmer tones of cashmere and natural wood, also supported by the shade of oak parquet, a hybrid material product – a combination of natural oak on the surface and composite material on the inside. Here, in the kitchen open to the living room, the material that gives the name of this project stands out - Sahara Noir.

The route to the bedroom is marked by custom wardrobes that incorporate a desk with storage, perfect for working from home, but which also hides the distributor for the underfloor heating.

The bathroom also keeps the dark tones with the help of Florim tiles in shades of gray with fine brown inserts. The terrace was also decorated in the same industrial style, in dark gray and black tones. The custom-made metal cabinet covers one of the sides and offers enough space to store bulky items. The electric drive of the roller door makes it very easy to use.

The generous height of the space, the windows along the entire length of the exterior walls, are assets of this apartment that enhance both the interior and the exterior.

Other elements used to highlight an industrial design style are: the technical lighting with black magnetic rails that allow the exchange or addition of new spots, the Irsap radiators with a retro and very slim look, the special 3 mm led profiles used to switch between the different types of finishes and last but not least, the multitude of plants that the beneficiaries had and that they wanted to integrate into the new arrangement.
