The primary objective was to dissolve the boundaries between the interior and exterior, seamlessly integrating the social spaces with the surrounding gardens. This involved delicately opening the enclosing walls of the home, allowing the landscape to intertwine with the living areas, all while safeguarding the authenticity of the original wooden roof beams and architectural language.
Beyond architectural preservation, this project serves as a curated canvas for Mexican art and design. The exterior’s dramatic black façade offers a bold contrast to the lush greenery and a nod to modern design sensibilities. Inside, a rich palette of natural materials unfolds, featuring the warm embrace of oak wood, the timeless elegance of various marbles, and the textural allure of stucco. These elements not only elevate the aesthetic appeal but also provide a back- drop for the Mexican art of artist as Gabriel Rico, Oswaldo Ruiz, Pedro Friedeberg and Jorge Yazpik, and design pieces that find a home within these walls.
