Skuruparken consists of 36 terraced houses in two models, ‘Naturhusen’ (the Nature houses) and ‘Atriumhusen’ (the Atrium houses). The houses are beautifully nestled in a pine forest hill with fine rocks not far from Stockholm's inlet.

The project started when we won the land allocation competition in Nacka Skuru. In our winning concept, we managed to incorporate many terraced houses and still retain the airiness and natural qualities of the site. We have positioned the buildings in groups to take account of the site's hilly terrain, each on its own plateau, which accentuates the area's topography while providing the conditions for economical and rational construction.

The lower part of the buildings is clad in larch wood - a durable material that ages naturally and turns a soft grey over time. The facades of the upper volumes are given a living surface thanks to tufted plaster which, like the natural shifts of the rock, changes in expression depending on light and weather. The combination of wood and plaster gives the buildings a balanced aesthetic that respects the natural values of the site.
