The railway control centre 08 that was built in Heidelberg in 1914 has undergone a conversion that can be described as “pointing the way ahead” in the truest sense of the word. In a location where freight trains were previously rerouted onto the right tracks, now stands a bistro in the bustling Bahnstadt district of the city. During the careful transformation of the industrial monument, metris Architekten und Stadtplaner changed “as much as was necessary, but as little as possible”. In order to retain the existing industrial glazing on the first floor, they were thermally upgraded with attachment windows from the Janisol Arte 2.0 steel profile system.
The almost 12-metres-wide Schüco lift-and-slide door system were produced by Pazdera AG, based in Coburg, from the Schüco ASS70.HI aluminium system.
