In a volatile market that is always changing, FREE suggested a building that could work equally well for both offices and housing. The building was designed in section, so that the ratio of housing to offices can be easily altered according to market demand. The result is a mix of apartments and offices that occupy a volume whose silhouette evokes Mexico’s stepped pyramids. Vegetation on all terraces reduces the building’s cooling requirements, and rainwater capture reduces water consumption. Solar panels embedded in the façade are among the elements that make this structure an icon of efficiency in its conservation of natural resources.
