Villa Madestein is a contemporary private villa in The Hague, the Netherlands. The house is designed around material, light and everyday use, with a strong connection to the garden and a layout that supports comfortable, future-proof living.

The design was developed in close collaboration with the residents. White plaster, timber, natural stone and dark window frames create a calm and balanced architectural language. Large glass façades open the house towards the garden, while the veranda forms a sheltered transition between inside and outside.

Inside, the spaces are connected through clear sightlines, natural materials and a central chimney that cuts through the house as a spatial element. The living areas are open and connected, yet each space retains its own atmosphere and function.

The private rooms are located on the ground floor, making the house suitable for long-term use. Daylight plays an important role throughout the design, including in the bathroom where a rooflight brings natural light deep into the interior. Villa Madestein reflects the design approach of Station-D Architects: modern, warm and context-driven architecture in which space, light, material and everyday living come together.
