Single-family residence located in a private complex in the northern area of Merida, Yucatan, providing and architectural response on two levels, allowing to take advantage of the green’s areas found on its surroundings. Complying with the architectural program according to the client’s needs with a total of 460m2, the composition of spaces with the interaction from the interior to a side garden is projected, generation greater amplitude in common areas and views towards the vegetation that surrounds the house, maintaining and relocating of the existing native trees on the site.

Zaazil is enriched by the harmony between the spatial, functional, design and beauty of the natural environment. The main facade is oriented to the south, which allows taking advantage of natural lighting and ventilation, generating comfort in the different spaces. The intention of the design is that the house can be embraced and surrounded by greenery from the mid and lower region.

The projects distribution begins in the main hall, to open the space towards the double-height room that articulates the terrace with views of the side garden. The dining area and kitchen are connected by circulations that contain visual finishes that frame the exterior vegetation. The rooms are on the upper floor with connection to internal patios, which allow the entrance of natural lighting and cross ventilation.

In the design of this project a very neutral palette of material were proposed to generate a feeling of warmth with the use of native materials like details with chukum, pasta with paint in beige tones, use of parota wood for doors and kitchen furniture, windows in dark colors, textures of natural stone from the region, polished and washed cements that contrast harmonically; For the floors and plateaus, the use of natural stones with obvious veins strategically placed to direct the view towards the areas with the most vegetation. The facade is framed by a black steel beam creating the sensation of a floating slab on the walls.
