The challenge faced provides the restoration of a tiny apartment located in a small and ancient suburb next to the city centre.   The design intent was that to combine the small spatial dimensions of the housing unit with its remarkable heights. The natural surroundings of the Estate were considered during the development of the new office. The design and construction are centred around principles of nature and biomimicry. Biomimetic architecture seeks solutions for sustainability in nature by following its set of principles and using it as a model, taking inspiration from natural designs and processes. Building heights have been adjusted to remain below the treeline. The project is a restoration and renovation of Marcel Breuer’s Lauck House (1950) built in Princeton, NJ on a beautifully secluded four-acre lot. LOT-EK was commissioned to design an art studio space for the Whitney Museum of American Art. The Whitney Studio is located in the Sculpture Court of the Whitney Museum’s Marcel Breuer building on Madison Avenue. The Studio houses activities for the Whitney Museum’s education program, including art-making classes for adults, teens and families, informal lectures and special exhibits.The building employs 6 steel shipping containers stacked on two levels to form a monolithic cube, designed to fit the Whitney’s open moat on the south side of the entry bridge. The stack is sheared by a diagonal plane to generate a continuous cut that runs along two sides and the roof of the assembly; the Boolean plane also carves the inside of the sta... This pavilion is a part of a project “Open-Air Flat” organized by PIK Group – a leading real estate developer in Russia – for Picnic “Afisha”music festival.Pop-up structures that symbolized the rooms of an abstract flat were situated in different areas of Kolomenskoye park where the festival has been taking place since 2007. The object is a reinterpretation ofa living room which is a common space for communication and activity in any flat. The romantic and picturesque Stella Maris Chapel (meaning “Star of the Sea”) has nestled among the trees of Lake Sagatagan since 1872.Originally, it was situated on what was then called Doctor’s Island, named after a teacher who dropped his gold-rimmed glasses on the site. Since the chapel was built, however, it has been referred to as Chapel Island.  This small chapel is an important part of the Saint John's Abbey, a community of Catholic Benedictine men, and is the location of a number of structures designed by the modernist Bauhaus architect Marcel Breuer.  The chapel survived the tornado of 1894, but was burnt down in 1903, by a lightning strike. Due to open in 2015, the project will substantially enlarge the Whitney’s exhibition and programming space, enabling the first comprehensive view of the Museum’s growing collection, which today comprises more than 19,000 works of modern and contemporary American art. Founded in 1930, the Whitney moved to its current Madison Avenue home, designed by Marcel Breuer, in 1966. For the first edition of Space & Interiors, at The Mall - Porta Nuova, Migliore + Servetto Architects designed an innovative concept of exhibition center. The interior is designed on the basis of a double register: on one hand the commercial purpose offers a detailed analysis of each products on display; on the other hand, an analytical approach allows a dialectic comparison between them. BRIEF DESCRIPTION The Pavillon d'Accueil de Flaine is the visitor centre of Flaine ski resort, combined with two workers seasonal housing. ENTRY DESCRIPTION Referring to Marcel Breuer’s architectural form, the “Pavillon d’Accueil de Flaine” (visitor centre) revisits Flaine’s concrete facade diamond shapes. The buildings sides unfold according to function. Taking the stations perforated metal logo, the "Signal" northwest side, is directed to the departmental road so as to be clearly visible to visitors arriving upstream. Northeast the front entrance side opens onto the square with oblique embrasures that shelter the entrance of the pavilion from wind and snow.
