Three volumes all with a rectangular plan and the same planimetric proportions are assembled into a whole while remaining individually recognizable. That is the core design concept for this Padua villa by depaolidefranceschibaldan architetti.
Designed to receive guests, the central volume and southern volume are both one storey in height. The third volume, to the north, comprises two levels, with a spa and fitness area on the ground floor and a sleeping area located above. Metal roofing common to all three volumes unifies the composition.
At the heart of the design is an inner courtyard, bounded on three sides by the three different volumes. Influenced by the courtyards of rural Venetian houses, this courtyard is a fourth body, a void that sits dialogue with the surrounding garden and landscape.
The building facades are a simple render with square-knitted metal panels that span across large windows. The panels filter light into the interior in a way that registers the passing of hours and days.
