“Moth“ 3D concrete tile

In this reference project, a striking palette of concrete, copper, and tile, softened with planted wall signage and warm feature lighting, create a contemporary and welcoming space. Behind the copper and blackened steel reception desk is the main feature wall of the space, covered with three dimensional concrete tiles. Quail's "Moth" tile was selected for the reception wall due to it's unique visual and physical textures. The acid etched finish gives the tiles a wonderfully rough and yet still refined feel. Meanwhile, the tiles are cleverly arranged in clusters, hinting at the way moths gather around a light. The Moth tile is a caricature of the delicate insect, translated into a permanent medium.
