REHAU System 4500 Window and Door Designs

Offer High Performance and Versatility for Residential and Commercial Projects

LEESBURG, Va. – The REHAU System 4500 window and door lines offer visual appeal and a variety of configuration options. Achieving a CW rating, System 4500 designs also provide a versatile solution for commercial construction projects.

“A CW rating designates that a window or door has passed typical commercial rating requirements, and is thus appropriate for a wide scope of commercial building applications,” said Helmut Grohschaedl, VP Window Solutions REHAU Americas. “In addition, System 4500 condensation resistance testing showed a CRFf (Condensation Resistance Factor frame) of 81. This is considerably higher than typical aluminum commercial windows, which usually range in the 50s.”

The System 4500 line offers three-in-one window design versatility with fixed, inward-tilting and in-swing positions. In addition, windows can be fabricated as hoppers or inward- or outward-opening casements, or combined into multiple-unit assemblies including bay, bow or specialty arch tops. The line also includes a range of high-performance sliding doors and in-swing and out-swing hinged doors, including French, atrium and entry door styles.

With a compression-seal sash that features two weather seals and multi-point locking hardware, the System 4500 line provides enhanced security and superior insulating performance.

“Compression-seal technology facilitates a more efficient and quieter design using special gaskets that are compressed, via multi-point locking hardware, between the operable sash and frame of the window or door,” Grohschaedl said. “These gaskets seal the joint by creating a virtually air-tight barrier that inhibits air, noise and water infiltration, in much the same way as doors and windows on a car or airplane.”

According to Grohschaedl, compression-seal technology contributes to the System 4500 door platform’s ability to perform at up to 40dB per ASTM E90 Acoustical (STC) standards, while System 4500 windows can perform at up to 43 dB. Comparatively, aluminum windows and doors typically perform near or below these ratings.

Able to accommodate glass thicknesses of up to 1 3/8-in (35 mm), the System 4500 window and door provide impact protection to a building’s interior, and have been tested to ASTM and Miami-Dade protocols.
