1. Thermal comfort


A closed-cell structure and advanced technological manufacturing process give URSA XPS its insulating capacity. In both cases, these values show thermal conductivity after 25 years. In the case of plastic foams, thermal conductivity is always better the younger the product. In any case, 90% of the products will actually have better conductivity values that the ones shown on the label.


Mechanical strength


URSA XPS extruded polystyrene’s unique manufacturing process grants the product high mechanical performance, allowing panels to endure high compression loads while reducing the material’s creep under permanent stress. This makes URSA XPS extruded polystyrene an essential product in insulating:


• Heavy flat roofs. • Floors with insulation below deck. • Industrial or cold room flooring.

2. Water resistant


URSA XPS has nearly-zero water absorption levels, both by diffusion and immersion. This makes the URSA XPS range especially suitable to be used in roofs, such as: • Inverted roofs’ insulation • Pitched tile roofs’ insulation • Washable false-ceilings built in the food industry


3. Fire resistance


URSA XPS has good fire resistance. With a reaction to fire classification E, this material is self-extinguishing and prevents flames to propagate. For this purpose, it does not contain toxic retardants such as bromide, but a polymer base not harmful to health in case of inhalation.


4. Resistant to temperature and deformation


URSA XPS can be used in a wide range of temperatures, from -50ºC to +75ºC.


Is the best-performing insulation material in freeze-and-thaw cycles. XPS’ durability under extreme climate conditions is measured as FT=2, which means that compressive strength is reduced by less than 10% and water absorption is increased after 300 freeze-and-thaw cycles.


5. Easy to install


The URSA XPS range offers the most suitable finishes for each application. Surface. Smooth. Flat surface. Without skin/ small grooves. No-skin (unfinished) surface, suitable for some building conditions, and grooved surface with small flat incisions. Excellent adherence to mortar for exterior insulation. Large grooves. Grooved surface with wide and deep incisions. URSA XPS panels are available with 3 distinct types of lateral machined finish: I Straight machined finish L Half-lap machined finish E Tongue-and-groove machined finish


6. Easy to handle


Another of URSA XPS’ great advantages is that it is very light, which makes transport and assembly easier. Panels can be effortlessly cut, allowing for small pieces to be reused, tailored for specific uses, avoiding waste.


7. Practical palletizing system


URSA XPS’ unique palletizing system helps improve extruded polystyrene products’ transportation and handling. Packets are first stacked and strapped in four layers, then two more layers can be stacked on top and re-strapped. This allows using-up the whole height of the pallets, preserving the rest perfectly packaged. Furthermore, the palletizing system avoids over accumulation of wooden pallets at building sites, helping to keep plots clean and contributing to reduced environmental pollution.


8. Highly durable insulation


In applications exposed to tough meteorological conditions or under-grade, such as inverted roofs or foundations, high-resistance products are needed, which can withstand the effects of water and high mechanical stress. URSA XPS extruded polystyrene panels are the best choice for these applications; a highly durable and water resistant insulation material, rot-proof and with outstanding mechanical performance. Using URSA XPS in buildings also helps protect the environment in two ways.
