A house project on a relatively small but extremely charming (at least from the east) plot located in Ruda Śląska. Working on the house project with the client, presenting various concepts in the form of a two-story house with a flat roof, we finally came to the conclusion that the ideal solution for the investor would be an atrium house.
Starting from the idea of an atrium house, taking into account all the investor's requirements and the possibilities and parameters of the plot, an open house was created, open to both the internal terrace and the eastern part of the plot developed for a home garden with a view of the neighboring forest. Despite the very limited building area on the plot (limitation resulting from the local spatial development plan) to 582m2, it was possible to create a large living space on the ground floor with an internal terrace isolated from the surroundings (neighbors) and at the same time maintain exposure to the eastern part of the plot bordering the forest.
The functional program of the interior is divided into 2 floors. On the ground floor there are 3 separate zones - entrance and technical (garage, vestibule, wardrobe and technical room, and toilet and pantry), day zone with a large living room connected to the dining room and kitchen, and residential zone with the master bedroom, wardrobe, bathroom and study. Residential zones are arranged around a semi-open atrium with a concrete terrace and additionally a pergola with a wooden terrace and a potential outdoor swimming pool. Vertical communication between floors is provided by a single-flight built-in (between 2 walls) staircase with a width of 1.1 m gross.
On the first floor there is a bedroom area with two children's rooms facing east. In addition, there is a guest room, laundry room and bathroom. All rooms have access to a covered terrace located above the first floor. The project ultimately had to undergo minor changes due to mining damage occurring in the vicinity to improve its parameters in the context of mining damage. Long hours spent on consultations and corrections between the investor-architect-constructor allowed the original character of the building to be preserved despite significant reinforcements to the structure.
