Automotive And Mechanical Innovation Campus

Automotive And Mechanical Innovation Campus

Environmental crisis, global warming, C02 emissions, oil cost, renewable energies, the defense of landscape values. Everybody is worried and works on these emergencies. Architectural and planning culture cannot pretend that these issues don’t concern it , forcing it to deep changes. It has to do with transformations that pull us to conceive architectures strictly linked with contexts. Sustainable is good. It’s the ecological task of who, as we, architects, is exploring and designing the change.

The Campus area of intervention has unique landscape. Situated on a plateau with the sea to the north east side and the Majella Madre to the west side that define a natural pond of pure water. The project takes this view as a starting point and works on the image of the Campus as an Eco-park. A big catalyst of environment and landscape, which uses renewable energetic sources and aspires to the optimization of consumptions.

The Masterplan is defined by three different functional areas to which correspond different levels of fruition and accessibility. The west area with tha car circuit is the less accessible. The Campus buildings, instead, are divided by a water pond that links all the activities: the laboratories, the innovation center and the spin off located at the north side of the area; the conference hall / training facility and the exhibition center to the south, near the entrance, in the most permeable area. The three different functional areas are divided in the longitudinal sense by natural systems (the dunes, between the car circuit and the innovation centre, the lake that separates the park area) which assume a strategic role and qualify the Campus environmental performances.
